Sylvia and I went full time with Auto Werks in 1980 in a small detached garage behind our home on the west side of Colorado Springs. Being a professional musician, I was spending many days away from a growing family and prayed that the Lord would show me a way of providing for my family with something I enjoyed as much as playing drums.
We have three children, two daughters and one boy. In 1984 when the family was outgrowing the house we were in, we moved to the north east side of Colorado Springs. We have been in that area and present building on Chromium Drive since 1988. I thank the Lord for His direction through the years.
My experience started with cars in high school shop class plus tinkering with my own cars. I have always had an interest in automobiles and so this was a good fit.
Auto Werks is a small family owned business combining old time ethics with new technology. One of our policies is to keep the customer informed on what is happening with their vehicle with no surprises. Sylvia, my wife is the bookkeeper for the business and helps with front office duties. Both of us had no previous experience with running a business but have definitely grown with time.
The spelling of Auto Werks was originated by working on many VWs of my own and others in the 70’s. We initially worked on a lot of German vehicles and other European models as well. Now we do just about any make and model but work mostly on American, Japanese and Volkswagen. We seem to have a wide variety based on what people bring to us.
The most important thing that binds the Auto Werks together is a love for our savior Jesus Christ. We believe that He died for our sins, rose again on the third day and is seated with His Father in heaven. Both Sylvia and I accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior and are committed to being all that we can be for Him.
