Let’s just STOP and think about it for a moment.
What is keeping your car from hitting the bumper of the vehicle in front of you?
The brakes on your vehicle are one of the systems that you truly feel and use every time you get into your vehicle. There are a lot of things happening when you push on the pedal. Let’s explore some of those and help you understand the Brake System!
When you push on your brake pedal a few things are happening. First, you are pushing fluid into the braking system through a Brake Master Cylinder. It pushes brake fluid to each wheel which has either a caliper or brake cylinder. On a lot of today’s vehicles, the front system has calipers and the rear systems have either brake cylinders or calipers. The Brake Caliper pushes against a Brake Rotor and the Brake Shoes push against a Brake Drum and that action causes the vehicle to slow down. In a nutshell that is how the Brake System works.
At Auto Werks you will receive a through brake inspection by our trained ASE certified technicians.
We will measure the brake rotors and drums and brake pads and shoes using micrometers and inspect the hydraulic system for leaks or worn parts. We will compare our results with manufacture’s recommended vehicle specifications. Once we have all the important information we will then suggest any recommended services.
A thorough and professional brake inspection performed annually will save you money in the long run. You can find out about potential problems before they occur, and avoid damaging costly brake system parts.
